Throughout his career, as a Specialist General Surgeon, Dr Aikman has and continues to prioritise cost-effective treatment as he is aware of the restraint on resources that many of his patients have. His special interests in the field of surgery include trauma surgery, acute surgical emergencies and hernia surgery. He enjoys doing endoscopies and endoscopic procedures and also has a keen interest in peri-anal pathology including perianal fistulae, anal stenosis and haemorrhoids.

The cholecystectomy is a surgical removal of the gallbladder. The gallbladder may need to be removed if you have gallstones blocking the flow of bile into the digestive system.

The thyroid is responsible for producing hormones which control the metabolism and heart rate. Thyroid surgery is done as a treatment for thyroid cancer, swelling or enlargement of the thyroid or overactive glands causing Hyperthyroidism which may interfere with breathing, eating and speaking.
